Clark McMillan is a graduate of the BFA program at NSCAD, and is currently living and working as a visual artist in Victoria BC. His large-scale paintings depict a primal and celebratory connection to the animal kingdom, that makes the viewer contemplate their own relationship to the natural world. In looking upon Clark's paintings, one cannot help but feel the vibrant personalities of the animals he depicts, leading to questions of hierarchical consciousness and personal beliefs regarding levels of sentience in living creatures. A colorful palette and loose approach to mark-making paired with mandala-like compositions give his work a sense of spiritual whimsy that is most unique.
In addition to his creative practice, Clark is a co-facilitator of Psychedelic Art Club, a bi-weekly community art event in collaboration with the Victoria Association of Psychedelic Studies. You can learn more and purchase tickets via the link below.
