I promised you guys trip reports, and this month you’re getting the goods! This experience, from over a year ago, is one of my favourites. Enjoy! My vehicle for this trip into inner-space, was a combination of MDMA, LSD, and Ketamine (robust doses of each). Remember, I am an experienced psychonaut, and I do not recommend this; (Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.)
So I got cruising at a good stratospheric altitude, and then I hit the booster rockets (the K). I sat in my meditation posture, closed my eyes, and this is what I saw; Into my field of vision came a fractally-nested hyper-object. This object was folded in on itself in such a way (because of its fractal nature) that it had infinite surface area visible, while also having a defined outer boundary. Does that make sense? And what was this object made of? What was its content? Modern Art. I was looking at this object that contained the sum-total of all modern art that had ever been created, as well as all potential pieces of modern art that were possible but had never actually been executed. It was a LOT of information, and it was all visible at once. I saw this for about 30 seconds, so I didn’t have a lot of time to zoom in, explore, categorize - but I did see Picasso’s Guernica, Rothko’s gorgeous colour-field paintings, and every other painting I’d seen or studied in art school, amongst the infinite possibilities of modern art. Emotionally, I was stunned by a sense of awe. I later defined this object as the “Modern Art Archetype.”
So that moved off-screen, and before long it was replaced by another object of the same type (fractally-nested hyper-object). The content of this one was Egyptian Hieroglyphics. I could see the sum-total of all recorded knowledge from the height of Egyptian culture at once. Again, this glimpse was brief enough that I didn’t have much chance to zoom in, and I was still in a stunned state of awe. But as I gazed into this amazing information-object, a new realization began to dawn and my sense of awe deepened; I wasn’t seeing it as an anthropologist or an outsider looking at foreign script that I didn’t understand - I became aware that it was my native language - that I wasn’t just seeing hieroglyphics, I understood them. Overcome by awe, I opened my eyes and; I experienced ANAMNESIS. I awoke, as an ancient Egyptian master magician engaged in performing a ritual technology to access the holographic substrate of the universe. This was a fully immersive first-person experience. Not only could I see from his perspective (inside a great pyramid), I was thinking his thoughts, I could feel the motions of his body and his mind as he performed the ritual, I had his memories, I knew his intent. He was using his mastery of ritual and the technology of a “fully functioning” pyramid to access a holographic dimension outside of time and to encode there a living seed of his own consciousness, where it could be accessed and awoken (with the right technology) from any point in the future or past. I experienced this for about 5 minutes before I was overcome with the intensity of it again. I opened my eyes (again) and was back in my apartment in the 21st century. I collapsed on the carpet in a mind-blown puddle of goo, but within a few minutes I was able to grab my journal and write down what I had just experienced (otherwise I surely wouldn’t remember as many details as this). In the manner of naming my “Parts” (Internal Family Systems), I named the new part that corresponds to this “seed” - “Magister”, he sometimes appears in my dreams, Active Imaginations, or other trips ever since. Later, in meditation (Active Imagination to be more precise), I tried to get more information about this - I asked (my Magister part), “What do you mean by a fully-functioning pyramid?” - the answer I received was something like this; “Imagine, at some point in the far-future you come across a computer motherboard in the dirt. You find no monitor or screen, and you have no idea that it can be plugged in. How accurately do you think you could discern what this object was used for and what it was capable of, when it was ‘fully functioning’? There’s your analogy…” Exactly one week later, in what I consider a pretty significant synchronicity, I came across the book Initiation by Elisabeth Haich for the first time (and bought it and read it - it’s wild). This is from the back of the book: ”A unique autobiographical novel bringing together the life story of a woman in the 20th century, with the full measure of events and experiences that contributed to her spiritual growth, and vivid recollections of her earlier life experience as a young priestess in ancient Egypt.”
There’s a whole rabbit-hole about skepticism that I’m tempted to go down here, but I feel this is getting pretty long. So let’s just say that - I’m too skeptical to become fanatical about this. I know that I don’t know what the true explanation of this experience really is. I am fascinated by the different possibilities, and I’m logical enough to be able to sort them into hierarchies of likelihood and meaning. But one thing is true; this is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had as a human being, and the idea that it was just “the random firing of a bunch of neurons because I was high” is not a good explanation - at all. And as far as the “it was a past-life memory” hypothesis, there’s a nuance to that; until the moment in 2024 that I had this experience, I don’t think it was a past life of mine, but the moment I encountered the “seed” outside of time, it always had been…
